Hornet Juice

Giant hornets live in Japan, they are about 4 cm long and their wingspan is 6 cm.  They are huge.  The grubs produce a liquid that scientists discovered make you run faster and lose weight. Also,the adults and grubs are traditionally a delicacy in Japan in areas wher fish is difficult to get - ie the mountainous areas (yes I tried them, the picture proves it!) I filmed them for Predators, a BBC 1 series.  I then made this for Radio 4 -  it was a very popular documentary in 2000. The section where I eat them was the most requested Pick of the Week that year.
