Highgrove Curlew Summit,

7th February 2020

In February 2020, a Curlew Recovery Summit was organised under the patronage of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales (who had already been patron of a summit on Dartmoor Curlews in December 2018). The participants included fieldworkers, NGOs, scientists, land mangers, the shooting community, as well as many representatives of government departments responsible for habitat and wildlife conservation and farming. The report on the event was carefully compiled with consultation of those present, and is presented below. The summit resulted in the setting up of the Curlew Recovery Partnership, a roundtable of eight organisations - the BTO, RSPB, GWCT, Curlew Action, Curlew Country, Duchy of Cornwall and Bolton Castle Estate. This new partnership was launched on March 1st 2021.
